This position serves as an Application Developer, supporting the Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity (DCEO) performing complex professional and advisory functions related to systems services. 

In this role you will develop and maintain complex applications utilizing the VS.Net and SharePoint environments while connecting to and querying mainframe systems. 

In addition, you will work closely with user community representatives to analyze and document system needs and objectives for maintaining existing applications/systems and for new developments required.

Essential Functions

  • Under administrative direction, serves as a SharePoint & MS.Net Programmer for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT), supporting the Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity (DCEO), performing complex professional and advisory functions related to systems services.
  • Collaborates with user community representatives to analyze and document system needs and objectives for maintaining existing applications/systems and for new requested developments.
  • Serves as a team leader for designated projects.
  • Develops and constructs audit mechanism and standards to ensure optimum performance of systems.
  • Keeps abreast of new developments in the information technology field by continuing education through online training platforms, meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to four (4) years of college with coursework in computer science or directly related fields.
  • Requires three (3) years of professional experience in Systems Services or a related Information Technology field.
     

Preferred Qualifications (In Order of Significance)

  • Three (3) years of professional experience developing applications utilizing Microsoft .NET technologies in an enterprise environment.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience designing, developing, or maintaining applications that interact with Microsoft SQL Server databases.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience developing or supporting applications that use web APIs (web services).
  • One (1) year of professional experience using Microsoft Graph API to connect web applications to Microsoft applications such as SharePoint and OneDrive.
  • One (1) year of professional experience using Microsoft Power Platform (e.g., Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI) for application development, process automation, and data analysis.
  • One (1) year of professional experience developing business applications using Oracle CX development tools and Salesforce.
  • One (1) year of professional experience developing reports and API’s using SQL Server Reporting Services building integrations using SQL Server Integration Services.
  • Ability to provide leadership to lower-level application developers, including guidance, training, and direction in the development, maintenance, and support of applications and systems.
  • Ability to analyze data logically and exercise sound judgement in defining and evaluating problems of an operational or procedural nature.
  • Developed verbal and written communication skills to present technical information to others with clarity and precision.
