Plant Controller

ssential Functions

  • Adhere to all safety policies, OSHA regulations, ISO1400, QS9000 standards and policies.
  • Participate in quarterly Safety/Quality meetings and safety training sessions.
  • Ensure cost center accounting and standard costs accuracy
  • Responsible for the planning, accounting and reporting for the plant
  • Ensure inventories (count and valuation) are accurate
  • Support plant organization for more cost-effective operations
  • Assist Business Unit Controller with profitability analysis
  • Ensure correctness of the periodic accruals
  • Act as financial contact for external and internal stakeholders working for local compliancy
  • Provide strategic management of the cost accounting functions
  • Analyze production variances
  • Ensure the plant has an efficient internal control framework in place
  • Prepare ad-hoc analysis and reports
  • Provide timely detailed production variance analysis
  • Complete monthly, quarterly and year end reporting
  • Provide product cost calculations for purchased or manufactured products, as needed
  • Forecast plant results according to group processes and rules (FC, AP)
  • Support working capital management
  • Provide investment analysis, including actual pay-back of closed projects
  • Identify and monitor cost savings opportunities
  • Support continuous improvement programs
  • Analyze and report the total result of the plant
  • Perform additional duties as requested

 

Education, Experience and Credentials

  • Experience in the Pulp/Paper Industry desired.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or accounting with 0-5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite, including in Excel, Word, SAP and other programs as required.
  • Mechanical/mathematical aptitude
  • Understand and follow Ahlstrom’s policies and procedures

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilites

  • Requires the ability to use multiple computer programs/systems including MS Office Suite
  • Requires the ability to work independently while fostering a team atmosphere
  • Requires strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills, strategic planning and influencing skills, problem solving, organizational and leadership skills
  • Lead and participate on problem-solving teams, facilitating the use of problem-solving techniques and tools
  • Requires ability to be consistently at work and on time on scheduled workdays

 

Physical Requirements

  • Dedicated keyboard and computer screen work.
  • The employee is frequently required to bend, stoop, and lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • The employee must possess the ability to see, hear, talk, sit, stand, walk, and use fingers to manipulate controls.
  • The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment including but not limited to steel-toe footwear, eye protection, bump cap, ear plugs, ect.
  • Some travel required.

 

Environmental Conditions

The employee must have the ability to work in a hot or cold environment, indoors and outdoors, in a manufacturing production setting, with exposure to working near moving mechanical parts.

 

Tools and Equipment

Require the experience and ability to use basic office equipment including computer, calculator, fax, photocopier, scanner, and telephone

 

Regular Contacts

  • High level of interaction with employees in various departments and roles within the Taylorville facility.
  • Interaction required with managers and company officials throughout the Filtration and Life Sciences Group, as well as vendors, suppliers, and consultants.
